OCS Young Sports Person Awards

We believe that the OCS Young Sports Person Award is more than just another sports award offering sports funding and bursaries to young sports people.  We take the opportunity to celebrate with our customers and staff the fantastic achievements of these future sports stars.

The London 2012 Olympic games saw several OCS YSP Award winners successfully competing for Team GB, including the medal winning gymnasts Sam Oldham, Louis Smith and Beth Tweddle. Since the London Olympics, several previous winners of OCS awards have gone on to achieve international athletic success, including Non Stanford, who became the 2013 International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Triathlon Champion after the ITU meeting in London's Hyde Park in September 2013.

The Young Sports Person Awards are run in partnership with SportsAid, the charity responsible for funding emerging sports talent in the UK and helping the next generation of British athletes succeed.

Since the awards began in 1998, OCS has made sports bursaries in excess of £500,000 to over 200 deserving young athletes.

The passion and dedication needed to develop sporting excellence is like no other. Our aim is to give outstanding young athletes recognition to help them with the strain of training, travelling and competing, taking the pressure off by offering help at the start of their journey when, more often than not, parents and guardians are the solitary sponsor. At this stage, independent recognition and financial assistance makes a huge difference.
